Every organization adopting AI has to decide where it runs and what data it may see. There is no single right answer. There is a right answer for each kind of work.
| Option | What happens | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud | Hosted processing under agreed controls | Most everyday work |
| Private | Processing stays inside the organization | Regulated work and sensitive records |
| Dedicated | A machine for one organization | Only when the need clearly justifies it |
Decide by sensitivity
- Classify the work. Public, internal and restricted information need different rules.
- Keep control with the organization. It decides what may leave, not the vendor.
- Send each task to the right place. Many tasks suit the cloud. Sensitive work can stay private.
Hardware comes last
Buying a server and installing a chatbot is not an AI strategy. Dedicated hardware makes sense only when cost, sensitivity or performance clearly call for it.
